I have a Y reg(2001) 406 V6 Coupe that Peugeot say **might** have an ECU problem. They're quite happy for me to fork out £2K which may sort my Antipollution problem out.

I'm able to get hold of a 2nd hand ECU and BSI (as well as keyfob) from a higher mileage car. The seller informs me that my car will adopt the higher mileage of the salvage BSI/ECU units. I've also had other people tell me that putting an ECU/BSI unit from another car (even if the units are identical) will not work and the car won't start. Obviously Peugeot arn't interested in touching 2nd hand units.

A couple of questions:

Is is possible to adjust the mileage of this setup back down to the mileage of the car (I presume from reading the forum that it is)?
Is it possible to update the replacement ECU/BSI with the details from my old units (VIN number, etc). In effect can I clone my old setup?

Any pointers most welcome!
