TachoPro (OBD2 ISO9141 Interface + TachoPro dongle integrated)
This compact interface will allow you to easily read/write/modify the mileage/km on your car without the need to remove the dash. It connects to the on-board diagnostics port located in your car.

This kit will also allow you to use it as a diagnostic ISO9141 compatible interface. (See OBD2 diagnostic cable specification for details)
This tool is used daily by engineers all over the world and is very effective. The software is DOS based and in german, but very easy to use.
A laptop or PC is required, note that on very fast ones over 233 MHZ the software might not work.

Other Information :
1. The TachoPro software might not work on PC`s that are faster than 233 MHZ
2.Interface electronic of the Tachopro & K/L is the same, only tachoPro have the dongle inside so the tachopro software is possible to run and manipulate the mileage
3. Make sure using the Tachopro Software under PLAIN DOS only not under windows or a windows command shell
4. Scantool, scanmaster, digimoto are using another interface based on ELM interpreter chips and are not compatible to this interface (Of this ELM interpreter chips exist 3 pieces with different protocols)
5. For further dashboard problem, check pls. from what manufacturer your combi instrument is made, VDO(Siemens), Motometer or Magneti. The Tachopro can only work for Polo on the one made from Motometer
6. Tachopro supports cars up to 1999 sometimes to 2001 (from model to model)
7. It can make the full EEPROM backup of the techopro, only the EEPROM from the IC

Hi

With reference to a BMW E36

I have a few questions. Does the supplied software only come in German?

If so please can you tell me the correct procedure to set up and run the softwware.


Should I connect the PC and CAR together via box and two cables.
Switch on Ignition (1ST OR 2ND Position?)
Switch on Laptop
Run Software

The box has three lights. Should all lights be on? If so should all be green? If the 2 link ones are red is that bad?

Will the software work if from Windows 98 I click Shut Down to DOS or should I 'only' boot up from DOS initially?

Can I find a translation for the German error messages?

Some E36 clock clusters have a removable chip that stores the mileage and some earlier ones (like mine) have a non removable chip. Does this effect the compatibility of this tool?

TachoPro is an inexpencive alternative for all those professional tools.
The tacho pro software runs only on older PCs under DOS but the dongle itself works with a number of programs including vag-com, vagtool,vageeprom.
I rarely have compalints from my customers about this tool.

I have BMW e36 1997 model. I tried Tachopro with it and it does not work at all. K-Line and L-Line always stay RED. The software does not find any connection. I have tried three different laptops from Pentium I 100MHz to a latest model with no success. If anyone get it working (I would be surprised) please let us know.......

Hi I use the Tacho Pro Interface on a regular basis with no hassles firstly the PC should be less tHan 233Mhz and running Windows 98 only com port problems with 95 and speed issues with 2000 and XP will prevent successful operation secondly it only supports models up to 2001 certain models that is thirdly some models need direct chip programming and that requires an EeProm programmer nobody gives this stuff away for free there are several box and software versions and the versions must correspond or it will never work all the dos software works on com1 but the opel windows software works on com2 i have dozens of pc boards to make the interfaces i have complete interfaces all the necessary information you need and the facts on what it will and won't do i have used it for about 5 years now it does what it is supposed to do so don't expect any more than that or you will be dissapointed if you need any more information, interfaces, cables or pc boards or just some advice or help feel free to e-mail me

Hey I just got Tachopro Kit with the box and the Cables for Mercedes and Bmw and also a OBDll Cable, I powered up the software on a Plain OS of Windos Dos 6.22 and the Laptop was only 133MHZ but the software never detects the box i guess I tried hooking it to the OBDll and i tested it on a 1999 C230 Mercedes and on a 1998 Bmw 328i (E36) but like everyone else the K-Line and L-line always stay red no matter what so if anyyyyyyyyyy one knows what the hells is going on please reaply thanks alote/
