Every Dash has use a micro controller unit and this MCU is used a crystal to set the frequency
That's mean that Mazda3 dash has also a crystal oscillator

I have done many of this car for mileage rollback and doesnt encounter any problem

My procedure for doing this car is:

I remove the Batterry terminal before removing the dash
and remove the eeprom when reading and programming

But for my procedure, I always successfully done the works
without any problem
