After odometer correction it displays "error"

Postby gakkgakk » Mon Dec 22, 2008 8:48 am

After I change the odometer of my Audi A4 -04 with Vag K+can Commander, it says "error" where the kilometer/odometer suppose is to be on the instrument board on the car. I have tried to take of the fuse/battery and try other values for the odometer, but it does not work.

What have I done wrong, and is it possible to fix the problem? Of course I did not save the dump file.

yup, quite common. You have to disconnect power from cluster after flashing.

ok, I thought taken off the fuse or the battery would make the same thing as to remove the cluster.

Is it hard to remove the cluster?

thank you

Ok, I removed the cluster for 2 hours, and it still says "error". What else can I do?

No, stupid me. I forgot to do a back up.

The car starts and drives perfectly, it is only the odometer. The trip odometer works although.

When I use the Vag K-Can Commander to read the cluster, the odometer value is always the last value I entered.

I also used the Vag Com to do a diagnostic:

Address 01: Engine
Controller: 8E0 906 018 AH
Component: 1.6L R4/2VSIM 3 0002
Coding: 0006271
Shop #: WSC 63251
3 Fault Found:
18058 - Powertrain Data Bus: Missing message from the instrument cluster.
P1650 - 008 - implausible signal - intermittent
18043 - Shareware version ...
P1635
17978 - Shareware version
p1570

Hope this can I help you....

I have solve the "error" display problem:

I found an other dump file in the internet. I copied the very first line (00) of it to my file, using Vag K-Can Commander.

000000: 54 D2 9C BF A7 EC 0F 64 80 96 FB 48 0A 96 25 03.

But then, I got an other problem: I got the odometer value of that new dump file, which saying 159 000 km (I think). Mine has only about 82 000 km, so that I need a code/dump file for 82000 km. Using the "Special Function/Odometer Change" in the Vag K-software, did not change the odometer value on the dash.

Can anybody help me?

Well,

It doesn't work with the standard function in Vag K-Can commander, I have to do it manually, by changing the very first line.
