Hello
I wonder if EEPROM i every car is on the back of the odometer or on the front of the odometer under the needles? If its on the front, are all needles twist anticlockwise and pull?
Thanks for all help |

some on the front . some on the back . some needles you have to twist i.e bmw e46/ vectra . some you pull up with 2 spoons . (t) some you have to lift and twist at the same time. Then when you replace needles you have to make sure they set right. some jap cars never reset right you have to use sw13 cable on the back of board.
Some eeproms you have to de solder from the pcb , some you can do on the board. you must always clip the osc if doing on board . you must always read/show/ SAVE/ then youy adjust kms. . some cars read in kms some in miles . some read in kms but program in miles . some read in miles and programe in kms. some eeproms you can not change mileage down, m35080 v6 you have to take data and stick it on a v3 m35080 .
Also most EEproms are covered in lacquar which needs to be removed before you will be able to get a reading.
BEFORE ALL OF THE ABOVE
You must have know how of cluster removal , not as easy at it seems on many cars . lots of hidden screws etc. And if the punter is watching you
and you look like you have no experience because you cant find hidden screws , things will look bad from the start .
THEN YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO SPLIT THE CLUSTER... ooooohh
This can be tricky as most have fine ribbon cables which like to rip.or odd
plugs/clips cable / trip buttons which fall out before you see how it goes back in , you could get springs and buttons everywhere. fine pins like on new focus ( i busted one a while ago)
IF YOU KNACKER A CLUSTER ................
MOST NEW VEHICLES HAVE THE CLUSTER SET TO THE VEHICLE
so you cant just pop in a second hand unit and start again as the vehicle
will never start and the main dealer will know what you have been doing.
You can make lots of cash doing this job, but with no experience i would and did use proper hardware with customer support , i Also have the numbers of 6 other dashmen who i can call on for help and advise . as they call me sometimes .
MILEAGE CORRECTION IS NOT AS EASY AS THE MEDIA MAKE IT SEEM.
best to buy a few clusters from scrapyard or e bay to practice on . buy good tools soldering iron bench power etc .
GOOD LUCK. YOUR GONNA NEED IT.

Thank you for the letter . I bought couple of used odometers to practice on. What is bench power and where can i buy it? I have done some cars by obd and i went ok, gotta start somewhere! I have seen on the forum that you been in this bussines for a long time and maybe can give me a good answer on my question, on new opel zafira and astra there is eeprom 35080 that got to be desolder and replaced by new but i read on forum that it dosent need to be desolder and replaced by new, only read/save/ and erase it and write in same data with new KM? How to do it? Thanks for all information John!

If it has written vp6 vf6 then you can not change mileage down, only up.
You need to save the data from that chip and put in on a v3 for example. then you can change the mileage.
