I have a 2000 BMW M5 with a sw 17 speedo. I am using Pa-soft 1.36. When I go into the mileage correction and attempt to correct the mileage I receive this error:

Dashboard contains a chip M35080. Function is impossible.

Also I now have a manipulation dot on the display. Could someone please give me a step by step procedure on how to solve these problems.

I am very new to this so I would appreciate a detailed reply.

The manipulation dot can be easily fixed with PaSoft by going to IKE. Go to "advance" and rewrite the last 7 digits of the vehicle's VIN number. The button to click there might be called FGSTNR or VIN. The Dot should go away if the VIN you entered is the same as the one in the LCM. You have to cycle the key (OFF and ON again) to complete the procedure.
In regards to the mileage issue. The instrument cluster has a memory chip (M35080) that cannot be programmed through diagnostic (a 2000 model should have had SW 13 with 2 push buttons or SW16 with one push button; obviously the cluster has been replaced). You have to take the cluster further apart and program it directly. PaSoft will not allow you to that. You have to use other equipments.
