I am helping to peace together a 97 540i its a insurance recovery car with some things missing. The insrument cluster on it right now has 90% of the pixels out (not working) its almost impossible to even read the odometer. We have a 99 sw15 cluster here with all good pixels i want to use. Will pasoft do the trick if not what will? I need to set the correct miles on the new dash and not cause a tamper light.

Hello, As long as the cluster types are the same (two push buttons and three plugs in the back or 1 push button and two plugs in the back) it will work no problem. With Pasoft 1.36 you can change the VIN and match it to your car so the tamperproof light does not turn on. Now if you cluster is a SW15 with two push buttons you cannot adjust the mileage through diagnostic; it has to be done manually. If your cluster is SW15 with one push button then you can adjust the mileage via the diagnostic plug. To know the true mileage read out the LCM and EWS value with Pasoft. Serge

Just to make sure; Pasoft can access both the cluster (IKE) and the LCM and write values correct? Is there a problem if the new cluster has more miles than tha LCM or the other way around?
