Reprogrammed a customers 2004 silverado, but he drove it over 200 miles after he sent me cluster, said it was an emergency, but we all have heard the stories. Is it stored anywhere in his vehicle other than cluster? He is extremely worried, becuse I cannot answer him. There are 3 different answers in this forum 1 says it is in the bcm, 1 in pcm and the other says no it is not stored anywhere else.
Thanks

The mileage is stored IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ONLY if it's a tahoe/suburban/yukon/sierra/silverado/H2 and has hours as well (in the cluster). The engine computer stores faults with the mileage but disconnect it for a few minutes and they will be erased.
Now...since you do not specific which exact model you worked on I can tell you that H3 has miles in the BCM and so has Cavalier, new malibu, etc. But in this case the BCM will overwrite the cluster's odo value. |

| I guess I read your post too fast. You did mention the model; so it's the cluster only. |

What version are you using?
I think it has suburban menu just find it
Go to USA Update > Chevrolet > Suburban
or
GMC > Suburban

You can buy an update kit for 160 USD and update yu box
by the way your Tacho 2007 has alread Suburban menu, just look for it
Chose USA UPDATE 06/03 --> Chevrolet --> Suburban
I have my Distools version 2005 and Suburban is already included under

Yes, you can use clip for it
But you need to do some jobs
For Picture no.1 posted you have to desolder some pin to acces the eeprom
and this is not easy job
for Picture 2 & 3, you have to remove needles
so it easy to connect wires at the back of cluster than to do some additional jobs
Used 33/95xxx board (no.40)
plug sw13 cable in Port 4 of adapter

Thank you hcip,
You didn't reply about Cadillac escalades? Does it have the same cluster as GMC SUBURBAN?
Thanks again |
