| Will universal eeprom programmers that are available in ebay work in odometer corrections? like the top2005 universal eeprom programmer(www.mcumall.com) Those are cheaper than the diga consult or any other commercial device. |

Yes. As long as your car is eeprom equipped any universal programmer will read and write eeproms. But those programmers are completely useless if you don't know how to work around those hex codes. If you don't know how to find and calculate the mileage algorithm then your $200-$600 universal programmer is waste of money. Needless to say that the diga can program some cars via OBDII and also program microcontrollers.

can you suggest some websites or e-books so i can study some more on using a universal eeprom programmer to edit mileage. The diga is too expensive for me, being able to learn would be of great help

| Sorry but to my knowledge there is no such thing like e-books or websites teaching mileage correction. In other words there's no school for it. People spend on average several times the amount of a diga-consult in this business and believe me nobody will teach you the "know-how" of mileage correction. Of course you'll probably get some info here and there but you will never know the basics...unless you buy equipments for it such as the diga-consult. |
